MacBook Pro Laptop sellers on eBay will take you for a ride.
MacBook Pro Laptop sellers on eBay are getting their Laptops from people on Craigslist selling broken Laptops for cheap, than the top rated seller will use his fake stealth buyer account on eBay to purchase new goods from a trusted top rated seller and then turn around and switch the broken Laptop in the box for the new Laptop then requesting a refund or filing a charge back. The seller is then out of a new working Laptop and now the fake buyer account can then use his seller account for a major profit on the switch. The buyer logs back into eBay using his actual seller account and lists the new Laptop for sale now selling a stolen Laptop and possibly committing postal fraud at the same time depending on who he’s shipping out the items through. This is called the “Switch Scam”. The buyer will file a charge back or get the original seller to refund the buyer using PayPal which then becomes money laundering. The top rated sellers selling the stolen goods use Craigslist as a supplier for the broken or used Laptops. A list of crooks in the New Jersey area have been doing this for quite some time. Top rated sellers recycle the used goods through this craigslist scam over and over and honest buyers don’t know what’s going on. The honest buyers that actually intend to keep their goods and not look to defraud are buying stolen merchandise off these fraudulent sellers though this switch scam. This is why when it comes to Laptops or any electronics category eBay should know who your supplier is. I said in the past that eBay shouldn’t know the supplier of sellers but I do think if a top rated seller is making a bunch of cash on the eBay platform they should disclose this information to protect the community. Unfortunately eBay doesn’t kick off too many bad top rated sellers these days, in fact they protect them while hurting the honest small sellers and that is not good. I always say do not buy from any seller that has over 50-100 transactions worth of feedback because any complaint you may have or case you file will never affect a top rated seller doing high daily volume. The only way eBay can protect people from this scam is to do away with PayPal charge backs for everyone. Yes that’s right I said it, stop allowing refunds. All merchandise on eBay is as is.
