eBay Inc suffers another Security Breach on customers signing up under Guest Accounts in order to buy items from sellers that normally block them because of low or no feedback score. Hubcap Joe who is a seller on eBay Motors admits in this weeks YouTube video that he received alternate Account data on a buyer that used a guest account from a Customer Service Representative after the buyer purchased his item and returned it through a guest account. Joseph Demarco claims the package never got to the buyer and was sent back.
What is Guest Checkout at eBay?
Guest Checkout is the faster way of buying items on eBay without the need of registering for an account. eBay introduced it mainly for new potential customers who want to experience eBay. It is also recommended for buyers who preferred buying fixed-price items than bidding on auction ads.
Is it safe? Yes. Purchases made through Guest Checkout are covered by PayPal’s Buyer Protection. If you used a credit card, you have the option to file chargeback in case you’ve got problems with your order. In my opinion, it is not most likely to happen because you can only checkout as guest or buy items from top-rated sellers.
Now, how exactly do you go about buying an item without an account?
1. From the seller’s ad, click Buy it Now button.
2. Click Check out as guest or Make your purchase as a guest.Guest Checkout | eBay
3. Enter your shipping information. Don’t forget the e-mail address so you won’t miss any updates about your order.
If you want to add a note in your order, click Add message link beside seller’s name.
4. Click Continue.
5. Proceed with payment (PayPal). You have three options:
a. Pay using your registered PayPal account
b. Apply for Bill Me Later
c. Pay using your credit, debit or gift card
You can immediately process your payment using your card without the need for a PayPal account.
Crazeenydriver AKA Joseph Demarco and eBay Motors Seller ID Hubcapjoes proves once again that your customer information isn’t safe at eBay. Was this a gaffe or was this a serious admission of receiving actual private account data on another user at eBay Inc? Either way this is cause for Alarm within the community and eBay will have to answer some questions.
Guest Account Data Breach Admission by Joseph Demarco
Remember back in April of 2014 eBay suffered a Massive Security breach that caused alarm within the user community. Gordon Kelly from Forbes Magazine wrote about the Security Breach where eBay says there is:
“no evidence of the compromise resulting in unauthorized activity for eBay users, and no evidence of any unauthorized access to financial or credit card information, which is stored separately in encrypted formats.”
There apparently is a problem here when eBay’s number one fan boy is getting guest account data from an overseas representative. Does eBay even know this is happening? I mean there is so much heat over this seller’s head right now it isn’t funny. eBay should MC999 eBay Seller Hubcap joe for website interference and using a customer’s eBay information without the permission of that customer to harass him. Joey’s return product loss issues seem to be a REHASH of what happened to him back in 2007-2012. Good luck Joey, the string should be cut on your selling privileges.
